What I Wore in August

August was a weird month. It felt both long and quick at the same time, and while it was only days ago, it feels like years ago. It was also a very lightly photographed month in terms of documenting what I wore. Although, I was traveling the first two weeks of the month and already shared what I wore in Mexico in my travel guide, and the last two weeks of the month were spent in comfy, elastic waist shorts while recovering from surgery (which I shared about here). August was all about neutrals, wearing what was in my closet, lots of linen and of course, Birkenstocks.

Save for the four outfits above, I only bothered photographing two other looks last month:

The first look was for a day out in St. Louis. It was going to be warm, but I suspected the restaurant we were going to for lunch would be cold, so I wanted my arms covered. I paired my Lands’ End cotton tank top (in Moss) with my Everlane linen boxer shorts (in Kalamata) and layered with my Baird McNutt Irish linen shirt (in white) from J. Crew and favorite jewelry from Machete and Gorjana. I hadn’t paired the olive tank and shorts together before but I liked the monochromatic look, and it was comfortable.

The second look was for a trip to the doctor, if memory serves, and it was an easy black and white combo (H&M top, NIC+ZOE pants, both old) with brown sandals. And yes, you can wear black with brown. In fact, I kind of prefer brown over black shoes to add some contrast.
