My Style Principles

When you work with me, you’ll see my style philosophy in action as I have solid beliefs about fashion and style. First, you should know that helping women find their personal style is rewarding to me. For far too long, fashion and style have been dictated by unnecessary rules that don’t make much sense and don’t do women any favors in terms of how they want to present themselves and how they view themselves. Ultimately, I want women to feel good about themselves where they are in the moment. I believe:

  • Fashion is about more than clothes. How you feel in your clothing is very much an emotional thing. Think about how you feel when you put on your best outfit. Conversely, think about how you feel when you put on clothing that you rarely wear but it’s the only thing clean or the only thing that’s going to work for that occasion so begrudgingly, you wear it. How you look and how you see yourself impacts how you feel. My goal is for you to feel good about yourself! When we work together, we will talk about how you feel about various items of clothing. Yes, the item should be comfortable but you should also feel good and feel happy to wear it. Specifically with my Seasonal Wardrobe Refresh, when discussing items to potentially purge from your closet, we’ll get into the emotion behind pieces that you might be hanging onto.

  • There are no rules. I proudly wear white denim year-round and you’ll never hear me say that someone is too old to wear something. Fashion should be fun! What you wear should make you feel good and more importantly, confident. I find fashion rules antiquated and limiting so I don’t subscribe to them. Period. I’ve had a long journey with my own style and I think that was due in part to the “rules” mindset. It wasn’t until recent years that I finally started to accept that the rules and rubbish we’ve been force-fed for so long are just that—rubbish. Anyone can and should wear what makes them feel good, regardless of age, size or any other irrelevant factor. When working with me, anticipate that we’ll be having rule-free fun!

  • It’s never you; it’s always the clothes. When a piece of clothing doesn’t fit properly, that’s on the clothing manufacturer, not you! It’s always the clothes, it’s never you that has something wrong with them. I embrace body positivity and body acceptance and focus on styling you and making you feel confident in the skin you are in right now.
